Do-It-Yourself: Blueberry Mask

As June marks the height of blueberry season, we thought we’d pay homage to everyone’s favorite antioxidant packed berry with a DIY facemask with only 3 ingredients: blueberries, honey, and oatmeal. After all, blueberries are more than just the toping of your favorite Greek yogurt!

The health benefits of blueberries have long been lauded but it’s important to know that these berries are rich in Vitamin A and C alongside fiber. The fiber helps keep the digestive system moving while Vitamin A and C are necessary for healthy cells. When it comes to skincare though, blueberries normalize the oil level of your skin and the high antioxidant count helps the skin fight damaging free radicals. Blueberries are also one of the few fruits with a low sugar count and can thus easily satisfy sweet tooth cravings.

As a humectant, honey helps the skin retain moisture and it’s anti-bacterial properties help quell acne flare-ups making it the perfect product for every skin type. Oatmeal acts as a mild exfoliator that combats inflammation and dryness by also restoring the skin to a balanced pH level.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp oatmeal  

  • 6 blueberries, frozen or fresh

  • 1 tsp raw honey

 Instructions:  

  1. Mash blueberries

  2. Mix honey with blueberries to create a paste

  3. Add oatmeal, mix well

  4. Apply to skin

  5. Wait 10-15 minutes

  6. Gently wash the mask off

  7. Follow with a serum and moisturizer
